Vitamin K is needed to produce prothrombin, without which the blood will not clot. It is also essential for healthy bones where it is used to synthesize osteocalcin, the protein in bone tissues on which calcium then crystallizes. It can help reduce heavy menstrual flow and will promote healthy liver function.
Various studies reveal that Vitamin K supplementation appears to reduce urinary excretion of calcium in post menopausal women, Vitamin K levels appear to be lower in osteoporotic women and lower levels of Vitamin K are associated with increased risk of fractures. Based on these studies, an increased intake may be warranted especially in post menopausal women.
Dosage
One tablet daily.
